Bring your compostable materials to the farm! They will go into our compost bins and contribute to our continued efforts to build soil health. Please note there is a one-time $20 enrollment fee to join our composting program.
What is composting?
Composting is the process of turning organic matter such as food scraps or leaves into a fertilizer that can enrich soil and nourish plants.
What materials are compostable?
Fruits and veggies (cooked or raw); kitchen scraps such as seeds, pits, husks and peels; eggshells and egg cartons; baked goods, breads, legumes, wheat, pasta, cereal; coffee grounds and tea bags; non-glossy paper products such as paper towels, napkins, newspaper or 100% paper bags; plants and flowers; BPI certified items (must say ‘compostable’). Please do not bring: fish; fish products; poultry; poultry products; meat; meat products; eggs; cheese, butter or other dairy products; fat; grease; oil or oily food
When/where is drop-off?
Drop-off will occur Saturdays between 10 & 11:30 AM and Wednesdays between 4 & 6 PM at our Sacramento Ave. gate at W. Gunnison & N. Sacramento Ave. The first drop-off date is Saturday, June 3rd, 2023 and the last day to drop off is November 18th, 2023. You may come at any frequency you wish (e.g., twice a week, once a week, once a month, etc.), as long as it is during these times.
Can you pick up my compostable materials from my place of residence?
At this time, we cannot offer pickup.
What container should I use to drop it off and how much can I bring at a time?
This will be a "bring your own bag or bucket" situation. You can also put your materials in a 100% paper bag so that both the bag and materials can be composted! Please do not bring more than five gallons of materials at a time.
