Featuring:

Purslane

Purslane is a "free" food source. Often considered a "weed", it is actually an edible weed. "The young leaves can be chopped in fresh salads and the thick stems of the plant can be pickled in salt and vinegar for winter salads. It is mixed in equal proportion with Sorrel to make the French soup bonne femme." from A Modern Herbal: The Medicinal, Culinary, Cosmetic and Economic Properties, Cultivation and Folk-Lore of Herbs, Grasses, Fungi, Shrubs & Trees by Mrs. M. Grieve, 1971.

Other ways to eat it:
  •     In a sandwich instead of lettuce
  •     Use as you would spinach or watercress
  •     Add it to any soup stock
